Hip Replacement Surgery (Total Hip Arthroplasty)
In hip replacement surgery, the surgeon removes the damaged parts of the hip joint, including the ball at the top of the femur (thigh bone) and the damaged cartilage within the hip socket. These are replaced with a prosthetic ball and socket, made of metal, plastic, or ceramic materials. This new artificial joint helps reduce pain and restore smooth motion in the hip. The procedure takes around 2-3 hours, and rehabilitation starts soon after surgery to improve flexibility and mobility.
